THE FOLLOWING REVIEW WILL BE FEATURED IN ISSUE 1 OF "TODAY WE LIVE" OUT SOON!!

REVIEW : NOMOS – DEMO TAPE
another demo that I downloaded thanks to the band having the link on their myspace. And yet another demo that kicks ass. Nomos are from NYC and their name comes from Greek origin, meaning “Law”. I think this is one of the better hardcore/punk bands of the last few years. To me it comes off being written right after an all nighter of listening to Antidote. Which is awesome. Also I hear parts of Infest in the music, mostly in the fast, blast beat style drumbeats. Not so much the vocals, which is good because in my opinion only Infest's singer can sound like that and not sound completely retarded. This demo for a hardcore punk sound, is also heavy and tough, “meaty” sounding. You know that feeling you get when you first listen to Negative Approach and say to yourself, “man, I wouldn't want to fuck with these guys”, thats the feeling I get when listening to Nomos. Pissed off fast aggressive punk that has no filler. It's hitting you in the face with brass knuckles on the first song, and by the last song it's already stomping your head in with size 12 Docs. The short little intro part on the first song “the most dangerous game” gives me the feeling of the Bad Brains “Big Takeover” intro. Not that it sounds the same, just the feeling of anticipation of the start of a killer song. It gets me pumped in the same way. I would definitely like to see this band get big. Hardcore/punk getting huge is a rarity these days, but I think if anybody could do it, it will be these guys.
